The Idea Behind the Cigarette
As my dissertation was loosely based on the sociological and psychological analysis of deviant behaviour, I wanted to include in my FLAT 34 project my deviant activity that some groups within our society frown upon - smoking.
How I do my activity with smoking depends on my surrounds and who I’m with, if I’m with a group of people who don’t smoke and/or don’t like the use of cigarettes, I tend to reduce the amount I smoke within that time or I try to find a quiet spot alone. But if I am with a group who are all or some regular or social smokers, I would go through a packet of 20 within 3 hours puffing away while having a chat with those people.
I believe me and others like me commit these kinds of activity all due to the social statuses we hold and how it then correlates the deviant thoughts that we think about everyday, and finally acting upon them if we decide to do so. This could then split our egos up from the ‘I’ that we show to our social group(s), and the Other ‘I’ that we only expose to ourselves alone…
