LONDON ART FAIR @ THE BUSINESS DESIGN CENTRE 2014

I’ve won some complimentary tickets courtesy of
Splash and Grab Magazine to go see the London Art Fair that’s going on from 15th - 19th January 2014 and I was really happy to see that they have a modern graphic/photographic showcase called Photo50. The variety of talent is just vast observing from landscape to portrait to illustration to film production, bursting with such colour and such narrative, even though some artworks were hard to understand in terms of what story it’s trying to portray to us as the viewer.

But if you are one who doesn’t mind hurting their brain a bit working out the context of the imagery along with the boldness of colour, go and visit the art fair ASAP before the last day on Sunday 19th January.

Because of many of the people who I was initially suppose to work with let me down, I had to nearly completely reconsider my narrative for one of my final year project. Often in my work I express atmospheres that can be uncomfortable for my audience to view, but I don’t want to hold back anymore, and a short film is in progress alongside this project reviewing the relationship I have with myself and others around me.

Not particularly for one looking for a sweetheart story.

Here are two of my WIPs, there will be 11 film still photographs to be submitted in this project by the end of January and also a 5 - 10 min short film narrating my story in a different form.

I do want to try my hardest to improve myself everyday in my art forte as my goal is for the people to love my work.

Will be hearing from me soon.

More additions to my Visual Diary.

A time to reflect.

There will always be a time where we have to grind to a halt at where we are in our lives and look at ourselves on what we have become and what we have done, for me this type of thinking would occur when a part of my life dies or when a journey ends as I do grieve in ways that others who cannot empathise with me cannot understand. The denial of an end of something is an emotion I can overcome, but what comes after I cannot deal with in an ambient manner. Anger being my vice, it can be very dangerous on myself and others around me, not particularly in a physical form but one that can taint a persons perception of another. For me, one road has reached a dead end, so now I have to stop and think where I am and where I would have to go now; the only thing I cannot do is go backwards, as I am far from over in uncovering my whole self and finding enlightenment; which may take years or even decades. The bane of my existence is picking up the pieces that were once my faith in feeling safe in another’s arms. Trust is like skin, once cut it will heal, but it takes time and mends itself tougher with scars to constantly remind you the memories you’d prefer to forget. So you hide yourself in the shadows of your bedroom and prefer to eat your meals alone in the kitchen while spending nearly an hour in your bathroom because you need to focus on the change within yourself, with no distractions.

Continuation of my Diary project.

Taken in the late hours of Friday 21st November, 2013.

It’s funny how the music I listen to gives me an image in my head I want to portray in my work.

These photographs were inspired by Shiny Toy Gun’s cover of ‘Stripped’ by Depeche Mode.

Come With Me
Into The Trees
we’ll lay on the grass
And let the hours pass
Take My Hand
Come Back To The Land
Let’s Get Away
Just for one day.

Let Me See You
Stripped Down to the bone
Let me Hear you
Speaking Just For Me
Let me see you
Stripped Down to the bone
Let Me Hear you
Crying just for me

Let Me Hear you
Make decisions
Without Your Television
Let Me hear you speaking
just for me.

Metropolis
Has Nothing on This
You’re Breathing in fumes
I taste when we kiss
Take My Hand
Come Back To The Land
Where Everything’s Ours
For a Few Hours

Let Me See You
Stripped Down to the bone
Let me Hear you
Speaking Just For Me
Let me see you
Stripped Down to the bone
Let Me Hear you
Crying just for me

Let Me Hear you
Make decisions
Without Your Television
Let Me hear you speaking
just for me.

Beginning a photographic project based on my personal diary.

Series of self portraits along with many other still life and landscape expressing the problems I have in balancing my emotions. Some with text, some that don’t need it.

A continuum I like to try out for a year at least.
